1 MILLION STEPS CAMPAIGN IS ABOUT MORE THAN 1 MILLION PEOPLE AFFECTED BY MS, TOGETHER WE CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE WITH MS RECEIVE HIGH QUALITY EQUITABLE TREATMENT, CARE AND CAN ACCESS EMPLOYEMENT AND HAVE A REAL VOICE IN DETERMINING THEIR OWN PRIORITIES

Our 2020 MS Barometer which is a benchmarking tool developed to assess the MS management across 35 different countries in Europe shows that there are almost 1.2 million people with MS in Europe. In every country MS is managed differently, the data shows that 20 countries MS Community is being left out of health policy and 24 countries do not have a neurological or chronic policy which includes MS.

At EMSP, it’s our aim is to improve quality of life of people with Multiple Sclerosis, as well as ensure that they receive high quality equitable treatment, enhanced care and can access employment. We gather data and provide knowledge and expertise to relevant stakeholders and encourage high quality research and the dissemination of excellent, evidence-based information on MS. Our recent 2020 MS Barometer data has highlighted many deficits in multiple sclerosis (MS) care across Europe.

Together we can raise funds to take action to reduce these gaps in care and champion evidence-based policies that will improve the lives of all people with MS. We’re excited to achieve our mission with you of improving the quality of life of people affected by MS by engaging the MS community and broaden the reach to the general public.

For this purpose, 1 Million steps campaign is developed for an European engagement - vital in a very crowded EU Community. It is a way that will help us to translate our activities into messaging that will help in reaching new supporters and challenge EMSP to refine its efforts to those that make maximum impact.

Who we are

The European Multiple Sclerosis Platform (EMSP) is a Pan-European umbrella organization with over 30 years of expertise. We work together with our members and our partners to ensure that the more than 1 million people living with MS in Europe, have a real voice in determining their own priorities. We rely on a growing network of 43 member organisations from 37 European countries.

What makes us different?

EMSP is the only MS-specific organisation that can influence health and other EU policies. We have a history of collaboration with the European Commission and European Parliament, we are founding members of the European Patients’ Forum (EPF) and we work with the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

What we do

The needs of the 1 million people with MS in Europe are the main focus of our advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns to influence European decision-makers and EU policy-makers. We gather data and provide knowledge and expertise to relevant stakeholders and encourage high quality research and the dissemination of excellent, evidence-based information on MS .

Our flagship projects aim to improve quality of life of people with Multiple Sclerosis, as well as to ensure that they receive high quality equitable treatment, care and can access employment.
